From the original site: I will probably cook this soon as wontons are my kids’ favorite. Wontons are served differently in various part of China. For example, in the Canton area, it’s famous for wontons to be served with noodle and enjoyed as a comfort food. For those of you who love spicy food, Chinese restaurants often have spicy wonton in a red chili sauce on the menu.

Creamy Caramel Bars

Creamy Caramel Bars

A perfectly easy dessert for the caramel lover!

From the original site: Salt and caramel. Could there be a better match made in heaven. I know all of you chocolate and peanut butter lovers are yelling at me right now. I admit it chocolate and peanut butter are right up there with the best combinations, but sometimes you need something a little different. Enter salt and caramel. I fell so in love with this flavor amalgamation when Starbucks created the Salted Caramel latte. YUMMM. I soon started to try and recreate them at work and at home, adding a little bit of kosher salt to my drinks. Shoot, now I really want one.

Zaru Soba (Cold Soba Noodles)

Zaru Soba – Japanese buckwheat noodle dipped in dashi soy sauce.

From the original site: Summer in Japan can be really hot and humid, and Zaru Soba was one of my favorite lunch menu when I was growing up. As you see in the picture, cold soba noodles are typically served in zaru, which means bamboo basket in Japanese. We serve noodles with some toppings (green onions and wasabi, sometimes grated daikon) and dipping sauce called Mentsuyu.

My Mini Onigiri Garden

My Mini Onigiri Garden

I was in some Onigiri freaky mood lately, making these Japanese Rice Balls non-stop. I’ve been getting lots of “orders” for this popular Japanese dish. This is another addition to my Onigiri collection, for a group of my students this time.

In my garden, there’re Salmon Wasabi, Spicy Shrimp (hay bee hiam), Green Tea with Plum & Cherry Tomato with Sweet Prune.

Bewitching Strawberries Salad

Besides the bright red colour, I like Strawberries for their amazing nutritional facts; their antioxidants, vitamins & minerals help fight diseases. Most of all, they’ve anti-aging properties :)

My Garden Glory consists of: Red & Green Oak leaves, Red Coral, Coriander, Parsley, Dill & Baby Chard. I’ve also added Sun Flower Seeds for some crunch.

Eastern European Potato-bake

[26 Aug 2011 | By helenscooking | No Comment ]
Eastern European Potato-bake

An easy one-dish meal with Eastern European origins…

Potato, zucchini, red bell pepper, with bacon and herbs baked in a pot.

The potato baked with zucchini (squash), red bell pepper, onion, carrot, garlic and some meat is popular in Eastern Europe. (It’s cooked in Poland and Hungary, in Ukraine and Czech Republic) In each region it has different twist though. Even in my family it’s cooked differently. I like to experiment. I cook it with meatballs and sometimes with meat (beef, pork or chicken); I cook it even with bacon.

The beauty of this recipe that it’s impossible to spoil, seriously, if you aren’t the perfect cook or if you are just short of time (and guests are about to arrive) this dish will just save you

Blackberry & Raspberry Cheesecake

Blackberry & Raspberry Cheesecake

A recipe which for guests who don’t like sweet treats, or diabetics. It’s a delightful dessert. I’m sure everyone will love it.

SURPRISE ! SURPRISE ! I managed to grab some raspberries & blackberries at Tesco last weekend. It was on sales. Raspberries at RM3.50 per prunet and blackberries is RM9.00 per prunet. I often see raspberries at the supermarket but not blackberries. Guess, it’s my lucky day! However, I thought blackberriessupposed to look slightly shorter than boysenberries. Aren’t they….or in the opposite? Whatever the shape, they still look awesome.
