Hi! I’m Dot [aka Nancy(long story)] My mom always used to say “If you can read, you can cook”. Well, while that’s partially true, I think the keys to being a good cook are experimentation, practice, and learning good techniques. I’ve been cooking for as long as I can remember, and I’m probably most influenced by my mom (who taught me my way around the kitchen and provides me with many tasty recipes) and Alton Brown (I adore Good Eats, and learning the science behind how things work).

I cook for my family–the husband who doesn’t know how good he has it, and the four-year-old who prefers tamago nigiri to chicken fingers–and I love to entertain. I have a Halloween party every year which has become known for it’s interesting food, but I also love to experiment with food for all different occasions.

My mantra: focus on the basics, try new things, eat ‘real’ food, do it cost effectively & have fun with your food!

As editor around these parts, feel free to contact me if you see anything that needs fixing, or want to contribute in any way!

No idea how this pull this off, but it would be really cool if there was a button on each recipe that could automagically import the recipe into evernote (evernote.com), my brain in cyber-space….
