Editor’s Note: These decadent brownies were originally published for Valentines Day, but Mother’s Day is coming up, and wouldn’t Mom Just love some?? (hint hint)

These decadent, rich, chocolaty treats are super simple to make, and never fail to impress anyone you make them for. My husband loves these, and requests them all the time. If he knew how easy they were to make, I’d have to make them every week. Luckily, he hasn’t figured it out yet (and my hips thank him).

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter (one stick)
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
4 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla (not pictured)
1 cup flour
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Melt butter and chocolate together in a sauce pan over low heat. Set aside to cool.

Mix eggs and salt with an electric mixer (a hand mixer works very well for this) until light and foamy. Add sugar and vanilla and mix until thick and creamy.

Add cooled chocolate mixture and mix together quickly, just to incorporate.

Add flour all at once, mixing quickly (do not overwork the batter).

Pour batter into a greased 9×11 cake pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Make these for your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day – serve them warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream or just enjoy them as they are. Your Valentine will thank you (I promise).
