Apple Cinnamon Spread

For this Apple Cinnamon spread I chopped the apple but apples can be grated also, the texture of the spread should remain coarse and not very smooth, paste like. I have powdered cinnamon with me so I used that but while cooking apples whole cinnamon sticks can also be added and you can discard them later or can preserve your spread along with cinnamon sticks.

Ingredients:

500 Gm Apples, preferably Golden Delicious
1/3 Cup Powdered Sugar
1/2 Cinnamon Stick or 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
A pinch of salt
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 Cup/ 150 ml Water

Instructions:

Peel, core and finely dice the apples.
Place them in a pan with water, sugar, lemon juice, salt and cinnamon.
Bring to simmer over medium heat and then cover and cook for 20 minutes until the apples are cooked and there is no water left in the pan.
Switch of the gas and using a whisk give the spread a nice mix.
Let it cool down at room temperature and store in clean jar.
Store in fridge and make sure to use clean and dry spoon to scoop out the spread. This increases the shelf life of spread.
