Holiday Treat: Sugared Cranberries

We’ve been asking for Holiday Recipes, and reader Jill sends us this great recipe from Bon Appegeek (love the name!) — a lovely holiday food idea: Sugared Cranberries!

More good info from Jill:

They are really, really good. And addictive. I found that recipe last year, and i make a lot of them during the holidays.  My store doesnt always have superfine sugar – in that case, I either use regular sugar to roll the cranberries, or put it in the food processor for a few seconds.  Sometimes I add orange peel and/or fresh or candied ginger when I’m making the simple syrup.
And the syrup can be reused for multiple batches, stored in the fridge as a drink mixer, etc.

Bon Appegeek writes: …Until that joyous occasion, here’s a beautiful snack and appetizer that always goes over well both at Thanksgiving and at Christmas time. Sparkling sugared cranberries make a sensationally pretty addition to your snack tray and is sensationally fun in the mouth. It pops in your mouth and releases an addictive tart sweetness that makes you grab another, and another, and another. Try it. You’ll be hooked. If not, at least you’ll fight urinary tract infections and load up on antioxidants.
